Tim Burton has his Johnny Depp, Martin Scorsese has his De Niro and DiCaprio, now filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn and actor Ryan Gosling’s working bromance continues with talk of a fourth project together reports Twitchfilm.
Along with the soon to be released “Drive”, the proposed remake of “Logan’s Run”, and an NYC-set rom-com, Gosling looks to be teaming up again with Refn for the helmer’s next project “Only God Forgives” which also stars Kristin Scott Thomas. Luke Evans was originally being tipped for the lead role but had to drop out due to his commitments to “The Hobbit” films.
Gosling would play a man who runs a Thai boxing club in Bangkok which is a front for a drugs smuggling operation. Despite status in the underworld, his meeting with a retired cop sets him on a journey to find what’s lacking in his life and he sets out to confront his mother.
Refn meanwhile tells The Los Angeles Times that the planned ‘Logan’ he wants to do won’t be a straightforward remake of the 70’s original but rather a whole new take exploring the idea… we’re still in the stage of trying to figure out the rules of the road.” Gosling added that the film’s producer Joel Silver told them to take their time with it to make it good – “It doesn’t have to be ready at any point.”
