Rupert Sanders To Helm “Ghost In the Shell”

Rupert Sanders (“Snow White And The Huntsman”) has made a deal to direct the 3D live-action film adaptation of the Japanese manga, anime and game franchise “Ghost In The Shell” for DreamWorks.

Masamune Shirow created the futuristic police thriller in 1989 in the form of a manga. It went on to generate two more manga editions, three anime films, an anime TV series and several video games.

The story follows a member of a covert ops unit which specializes in fighting technology-related crime.

William Wheeler (“The Reluctant Fundamentalist”) has penned a new script adaptation which Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul will produce. The film is said to be a personal passion project of Steven Spielberg.
