“Harry Potter” regular Rupert Grint will both star in and executive produce Sony’s new series “Snatch” on the streaming network Crackle.
Crackle has handed out a straight-to-series order for the drama based on Guy Ritchie’s cult 2000 film which starred Jason Statham and Brad Pitt. This new one will also include Dougray Scott as a regular and Ed Westwick in a recurring role.
Inspired by a real life heist in London, the story centers on a group of twenty-something hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime which is packed with rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters and local villains.
Grint will play Charlie Cavendish, a frustratingly chaotic and utterly posh con man. Scott plays Vic Hill, an incarcerated con who is continuing his activities. Westwick plays night club owner Sonny Castillo.
Nick Renton (“The Musketeers”) will direct the project which begins production of its ten-episode first season which kicks off next week in Manchester ahead of a 2017 premiere.
