After previously falling apart, actor Mark Ruffalo’s indie directorial debut “Sympathy for Delicious” seems to have risen like Lazarus.
Last year the project fell into disarray after the December death of Ruffalo’s brother and the film’s star James Franco had to depart due to other commitments.
Now, The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Brit thesp Orlando Bloom is set to takeover the lead and award-winning actress Laura Linney has won the female lead role.
Christopher Thornton’s story follows a paralyzed DJ, struggling to survive on the streets of L.A., who turns to faith healing and mysteriously develops the ability to cure everyone who’s sick – except himself.
The DJ then decides to cash in on his gift in exchange for his rock ‘n’ roll dreams. Bloom will play the frontman of a tough-as-nails rock band, while Linney plays as the band’s manager.
Thornton himself plays the DJ, while Ruffalo will play a priest.
Production begins next week in Los Angeles.
