A while back it was confirmed that Oscar winner Cate Blanchett was in talks for a role in the upcoming “Thor: Ragnarok” though which specific role was not made clear beyond it likely being as the film’s villain.
Speaking with ET Online at the Golden Globes last night, actor Mark Ruffalo was asked how he felt about Blanchett joining the film in which his Bruce Banner-The Hulk character plays a key part:
“I’m so thrilled. I saw her at the Governors’ banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, ‘Please, please, please make this work!’ She’s just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting.”
Blanchett herself made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live late last week and was asked about her appearance in the film. She wouldn’t talk about her role beyond joking that she will take over for Chris Hemsworth as Thor. “Thor: Ragnarok” aims to close out the Asgardian trilogy and begins shooting in May in Australia under the helm of Taika Waititi.
