Ruby Rose Talks Her Batwoman Casting

Following The CW’s announcement that “John Wick: Chapter Two” and “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” star Ruby Rose had been cast as Batwoman, the actress has taken to to Instagram to respond to the casting.

She writes in her post: “I am beyond thrilled and honored. I’m also an emotional wreck because this is a childhood dream. This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on tv and felt alone and different. Thank you everyone. Thank you god.”

Rose will first appear in the role in the annual DC superhero crossover event this coming December and then go on to shoot a pilot for a proposed “Batwoman” series. That series has not yet been greenlit by the network but if it is then it will air next year.

In the comics, Batwoman is Kate Kane, one of DC’s first openly gay characters, who prowls the streets of Gotham City stopping crime. Producers have already confirmed that despite the setting, Batman will NOT appear on the series.
