Action star Ruby Rose (“xXx: Return of Xander Cage,” “John Wick: Chapter 2”) has been officially cast as Batwoman, the Gotham City heroine who may be getting her own series on The CW next year.
Rose will first appear as Batwoman in the annual DC superhero crossover event between “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow” airing in December. She’ll then be a part of the pilot for a planned “Batwoman” TV series set in that universe which producer Greg Berlanti is currently developing.
Caroline Dries penned the pilot which has Rose playing Kate Kane, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence and must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.
Dries will executive produce alongside Berlanti, Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter. Rose can be seen this week in the giant shark film “The Meg”.
