Rowling Pens “Harry Potter” World Cup Article

“Harry Potter” series author J.K. Rowling has brought Harry, Hermione and Ron back to life for a 1,500 word essay that crashed the official Pottermore site.

Rowling, writing as gossip columnist Rita Skeeter, penned an article in which the characters, now in their early-mid 30’s, bring their families to the Patagonian Desert to watch the Quidditch World Cup which takes place ahead of the Muggle World Cup grand final in Brazil on Sunday.

Potter himself now has flecks of silver in his hair and a mysterious cut over his cheekbone, Ron’s hair is thinning and he’s now helping manage Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Ron’s wife Hermione is the Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

In terms of supporting characters, Harry’s wife Ginny is reporting on the event for the Daily Prophet, while Neville Longbottom is now Hogwarts’ Herbology professor and lives above the Leaky Cauldron in London with his wife Hannah Abbott.

The essay marks the first time Rowling has brought these characters back to life in the seven years since the release of the final novel in 2007. Rowling will return on Friday to write about the Quidditch World Cup itself which sees Brazil and Bulgaria competing with Victor Krum serving as Seeker for the Bulgarians.
