Rosamund Pike is circling the long-gestating feature “Guernsey” while Mike Newell (“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”) is in talks to direct the project.
Based on Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows’s novel, the story follows a writer as she forms an unexpected bond with the residents of Guernsey Island in the aftermath of World War II when she decides to write a book about their experiences during the war.
The likes of Kate Winslet, Lily James and Rebecca Ferguson have been attached to the project at one point or another. Don Roos adapted the script while Mitchell Kaplan and Paula Mazur are producing.
The project has yet to be green lit, and financing is still coming together.
