Ron Howard To Helm 1980s Drug Tale “Mena”

Ron Howard is attached to direct “Mena,” a film which Universal just bought on spec for $1 million.

Gary Spinelli penned the fact-based script about Barry Seal, an Arkansas-based portly pilot, gun runner, and drug trafficker in the 1980s who transported contraband for the CIA and the Medellin cartel.

He was ultimately shot to death in Baton Rouge by the cartel. Doug Davison and Brian Grazer will produce.
