Romano, O’Dowd Set For “Get Shorty” TV Series

Ray Romano and Chris O’Dowd have been set in the Gene Hackman and John Travolta roles respectively in Epix’s upcoming ten-episode straight-to-series reboot of “Get Shorty”.

Based on the 1990 Elmore Leonard novel and the previous 1995 film adaptation, the dark comedy centers on Miles Daly (O’Dowd), who works as muscle for a murderous crime ring in Nevada.

He attempts to change professions and become a movie producer, laundering money through a film and ends up accidentally bringing the crime world with him to Los Angeles. Romano will play Rick, a washed up producer of low-quality films who becomes Miles’ partner and Hollywood guide.

Davey Holmes (“Shameless”) adapted the project for the small screen and will executive produce. Shooting begins this Fall for a summer 2017 premiere.
