Romania Reverses “Nymphomaniac” Ban

Initially banned, Romania’s film commission (The CNC) has now reversed that decision and will allow Danish director Lars von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac Volume II,” the second part of his sexual epic, to be released in that country next week as planned.

The group initially awarded the film an “18 XXX” rating, essentially calling it pornography and thus illegal to be released theatrically in the country.

Distributor Independenta Film appealed the decision and the commission agreed, changing the rating to the “18+” that was awarded the first film. The CNC did not give any reason for their reversal, or for the original XXX rating.
