Sam Rockwell and Ciaran Hinds are set to join Jessica Chastain in the Susanna White-directed Sitting Bull drama “Woman Walks Ahead” at Black Bicycle Entertainment, Bedford Falls and Potboiler.
Steven Knight penned the script in which Chastain plays Catherine Weldon, a portrait painter from 1890s Brooklyn who travels to Dakota to paint a portrait of Sitting Bull and becomes embroiled in the Lakota peoples’ struggle over the rights to their land.
Weldon wrote letters to the federal government on behalf of Sitting Bull and lived on the land for several years with her son. Michael Greyeyes, Chaske Spencer and Bill Camp also star.
The project, which recently began production in New Mexico, is being produced by Ed Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz, Erika Olde, Rick Solomon and Andrea Calderwood.
