Rocksteady’s “Batman: Arkham Knight” Revealed

Two of the most acclaimed video games of recent years were the first two titles in Rocksteady Games’ Batman-themed ‘Arkham’ series. Both “Batman: Arkham Asylum” and “Batman: Arkham City” ranked easily amongst the best games of their respective years and did strong sales.

Then, Rocksteady bowed out of the third game – the prequel “Batman: Arkham Origins” – with the development being left up to WB Games Montreal. The result, whilst not panned, wasn’t nearly so well-regarded and was seen as a ‘holding pattern’ title awaiting Rocksteady’s return to the series.

Indeed, rumors have been swirling for months that WB did ‘Origins’ because Rocksteady needed extra time for something special – to create a true next-gen ‘Arkham’ game. Today comes an official announcement confirming that project – “Batman: Arkham Knight”.

Dubbed the “explosive finale” to the game series, it is set to be released later this year (likely in October as per usual) on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The plot sees The Scarecrow returning to unite an impressive roster of super villains to destroy The Dark Knight.

The announcement trailer also shows off a unique Batmobile which will be drivable for the first time in the franchise.
