Legendary singer Elton John, and “Kingsman” actor Taron Egerton who plays John in the upcoming biopic “Rocketman,” appeared together last night to sing a duet during John’s annual AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party.
The pair conducted a live rendition of the song “Tiny Dancer” for the crowd at the gala event which raised over $6.3 million for the global effort to end AIDS. Egerton also auctioned off a trip to attend the “Rocketman” world premiere in London.
The film’s story will focus on the beginnings of Elton John (Egerton), starting when he was a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music and carrying over to when he reached global stardom through his influential and enduring musical partnership with his songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell). It will look at the performer’s life past the glitter saturated image we have grown so accustomed to associating with the performer.
Dexter Fletcher helms the film which hits various global markets in May.
