Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Terence Stamp will join the cast of the Warner Bros. Pictures upcoming feature film based on the classic 60’s sitcom “Get Smart” reports Variety.
Director Peter Segal says the premise has been contemporized but will keep many of the original touches (eg. the cone of silence). Whilst the original skewered the Cold War, this film will do similar to today’s political landscape.
Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway are already signed to play Maxwell Smart and Agent 99. The Rock will play the newly created character Agent 23, whilst Stamp will play an evil leader.
Tom Astle and Matt Ember wrote the script. Shooting begins next month in Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Moscow and will continue through July.
