Robocop Remake Still On Hold At MGM

“The Wolfman” co-scribe David Self tells Coming Soon that until MGM’s is back in full working order, the “Robocop” remake is on hold.

“I’m still involved with it and Darren Aronofsky’s still involved with it. He’s making another movie right now (‘Black Swan’), but we’re waiting for MGM to sort things out since they’re a larger corporate and it’s a situation where we have to be practical. We’re waiting to continue with them, we hope that that happens soon and we can get back to it soon” said Self over the weekend.

Self also confirmed the film is essentially an origin story (ie. a reboot) and NOT a sequel.

Self is currently working on the script adaptation of ‘Bourne Identity’ author Robert Ludlum’s 1982 novel “The Parsifal Mosaic” which Ron Howard is directing.
