Robocop & “Apes” Remakes Shelved

Fox’s “Caesar”, the ground-up reimagining of “Conquest of the Planet Of the Apes” that Scott Frank was writing, has been shelved and Frank has left the project reports CHUD.

Details are scarce but the decision was apparently made a while ago with the cause being apparently both the expense and darkness of the material which admittedly is all about the end of humanity.

Meanwhile, Phoenix Pictures says that the “Robocop” remake is on hold over at MGM and not just because of the studio’s imminent sale reports Robocop Archive via Moviehole.

The studio apparently wants a 3D digital version of the film while attached director Darren Aronofsky has no interest in the technique and was to do everything as organic and real as possible with absolutely minimal CG.
