Robin Wright Assembles A “House of Cards”

Robin Wright is in talks to play the female lead role in Netflix’s $100 million remake of the famed Emmy-winning 1990 UK mini-series “House of Cards” reports Reuters.

The 26-episode one-hour drama fuses black political comedy with elements from Macbeth and Richard III, the original was set at the end of Margaret Thatcher’s tenure as prime minister and follows scheming British politician Francis Urquhart (Ian Richardson) who has his eye on the top job and manipulates agendas to get his way.

Fincher’s adaptation will change the setting to the U.S. with Kevin Spacey taking over Richardson’s role. Beau Willimon (“The Ides of March”) adapted the script while David Fincher will helm the pilot which will air late next year.
