Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep are in negotiations to star in the film adaptation of Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer and Tony-winning play “August: Osage County” for the Weinstein Company says The Hollywood Reporter.
The 2007 play revolves around a family’s buried pains and present conflicts after its patriarch dies. Streep would play the drug-addicted matriarch, while Roberts would play the eldest daughter who is estranged from her adulterous husband.
John Wells plans to direct the film from a screenplay adapted by Letts. Harvey Weinstein and Jean Doumanian will produce, while filming kicks off in the summer.
