Roberts Locked For “Snow White”

Julia Roberts’ deal to play the Evil Queen in the Tarsem Singh-directed 3D adaptation “The Brothers Grimm: Snow White” at Relativity should be closed about now reports Deadline.

With Roberts locked, it seems none of the three “Snow White” films currently in development are backing down despite the competition. This film’s main rival is Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” which has Charlize Theron in the equivalent role. That film begins shooting this Summer for a December 21st 2012 release.

Tarsem’s ‘Snow’ though intends to get the jump on it with shooting to potentially begin as early as next month. This might mean an earlier bow in 2012, possibly even sometime in the Summer. It would also have the added advantage of an internationally bankable superstar in the form of Roberts.

The third film, Disney’s China-set “Snow and the Seven”, is currently slated for 2013.
