“Star Trek” co-scribe and “Fringe” co-creator Roberto Orci has officially signed on to executive produce an animated TV series based upon the beloved classic arcade game “Galaga” with The Nuttery Entertainment to produce.
Galaga was released in 1981 and has players assuming control of a starship as they attempt to slow down an alien invasion led by bug-like creatures. Effectively a simple “Space Invaders”-style title, there’s no real plot or characters to speak of making it an odd choice for an adaptation.
“Galaga Chronicles” will be animated by ShadowMachine, the studio behind “Robot Chicken,” “BoJack Horseman” and “Final Space”. The project will be shopped to cable networks and streaming services with a twelve-episode first season run planned.
