Robert Redford Joins “Old Man and the Gun”

“Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” director David Lowery is teaming with Robert Redford for the crime drama “The Old Man and the Gun”.

Lowery is attached to adapt and direct the film based on David Grann’s 2003 article in The New Yorker. Redford is attached to star and will produce alongside Bill Holderman, Jeremy Steckler and Anthony Mastromauro.

The true story tale follows Forrest Tucker, a lifelong bank robber who escaped jail eighteen times in his life.

At the time of the article he was aged 78 and living in a retirement community with his third wife. Yet he still had a hankering to rob banks, and was caught by police after a robbery and high-speed chase in 2000.

At one point, Wolfgang Petersen was attached to direct the project when it was setup at Warner Bros. Pictures.
