Robert Duvall Joins The “Widows” Remake

Robert Duvall has joined the cast of Steve McQueen’s thriller “Widows” which McQueen is co-writing with “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn for New Regency, 20th Century Fox, and Film4.

A feature remake of Lynda La Plante’s 1983 British crime miniseries, the original followed three robbers who are killed during a heist gone wrong. Their tough as nails widows opt not to grieve, instead they hire another woman to help pull off the raids that their husbands failed at.

Duvall will play Farrell’s father who may help the widows complete the gig. Viola Davis, Colin Farrell, Liam Neeson, Andre Holland, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Rodriguez, and Daniel Kaluuya star.

Production is expected to start this summer with McQueen, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman slated to produce.
