Craig Gillespie (“Lars and the Real Girl”) is on board to direct the Tonya Harding biopic “I, Tonya” for Clubhouse Pictures and LuckyChap Entertainment.
Steven Rogers is penning the script and Margot Robbie is attached to play Harding. She was one of the world’s top figure skaters who, due to jealously, conspired to have her main rival Nancy Kerrigan injured prior to the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Kerrigan would go on to compete at the Olympics, winning the silver medal while Harding ended up in eighth place. Robbie, Rogers and Bryan Unkeless will produce.
The news comes as it was also confirmed today Robbie is set to star with Domhnall Gleeson in the Fox Searchlight biopic “Goodbye Christopher Robin” about “Winnie the Pooh” author A.A. Milne.
