Rob Lowe has just joined the cast of the sequel to comedy group Broken Lizard’s 2001 bumbling cop comedy “Super Troopers” which began production last week in Boston.
Lowe is set to play Guy Le Franc, a former hockey player and the current mayor of a Quebec Canadian border town.
Broken Lizard members Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske wrote and are starring in the film once again, with Chandrasekhar also directing.
The group raised more than $4.5 million to fund “Super Troopers 2” during a crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo last year, more than double their initial goal of $2 million.
Fox Searchlight is set to release the film in North America sometime next year. Check out some photos below of Lowe on the film’s set.
