Jiaflix Pictures and China Movie Channel’s 1905 Pictures have hired “xXx” and “The Fast and the Furious” director Rob Cohen to helm the $100 million car-racing action-thriller “Speedhunters”.
The story is set in the near future and is rooted in the world of formula racing. A colorful team of racers and crew gets drawn into high intrigue around a revolutionary technology that threatens to change the world.
Of its four principal roles, two have been written as Chinese. The film will be presented predominantly in English, with some Chinese dialogue. Josh Parkinson penned the script.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce and shooting will take place in Shanghai and Berlin’s Babelsberg Studios from July ahead of a Summer 2018 theatrical release.
