“Austin Powers” and “Trumbo” director Jay Roach is on board to rewrite and potentially direct the sci-fi romance tale “Intelligent Life” for Amblin Entertainment.
“Jurassic World” scribes Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly have penned the original script about a United Nations employee who makes contact with a beautiful woman, who may be an alien, while monitoring outer space.
Trevorrow, Frank Marshall, Peter Saraf and Steven Spielberg will produce. Roach has only committed to polishing the script at this time, but Amblin is encouraging him to take on a larger role.
Ava DuVernay was initially on board to direct and Lupita Nyong’o to star, but both departed with DuVernay now set to handle the “A Wrinkle in Time” film adaptation.
