Relativity Media has picked up Grant Pierce Myers’ script “Ness/Capone” which is a new take on the epic battle between Eliot Ness and Al Capone during the Prohibition Era reports Deadline.
Myers’ version of Eliot Ness is very different to that of Kevin Costner’s incorruptible good guy portrayal in Brian De Palma’s “The Untouchables”. In this take, Ness is a skirt-chasing 26-year old publicity hound who got off on courting danger and tackling the mobsters on their own turf, even parading his victories right in front of Capone himself.
The film is not to be confused with the Walon Green-scripted “Cicero” at Warner Bros. Pictures. That project details Capone’s rise from the slums of Brooklyn to the head of the criminal underworld in Chicago
Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Gianni Nunnari, Jason Felts and Rene Rigal will produce “Ness/Capone”.
