Guy Ritchie will return to his old school of filmmaking with “Toff Guys,” a British darkly comic crime drama which will mark his next directorial effort.
Dubbed a blend of “Sexy Beast” and “Downton Abbey,” the story follows a very English drug lord attempting to cash out on his highly profitable empire by selling it off to a dynasty of Oklahoma billionaires. Ritchie wrote the script with Marn Davies and Ivan Atkinson and will produce.
Ritchie made his name on this type of film with the likes of “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” “Snatch” and “RocknRolla”. In more recent years he’s been doing tentpole films like the “Sherlock Holmes” franchise, “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,” and most recently Disney’s live-action “Aladdin” currently in post-production.
