Rihanna, Nyong’o, DuVernay Plan Netflix Film

What began as a dream pairing meme on Twitter has now become a reality – singer Rihanna and acclaimed actress Lupita Nyong’o are teaming up for a buddy movie reports EW.

On top of that, “Selma” director Ava DuVernay will helm the project and Issa Rae (“Insecure”) is in talks to pen the script.

In fact the film already has a home with Netflix landing the project this week at Cannes with a very aggressive bid that saw it beating out multiple other suitors.

The meme started when Rihanna and Lupita were spotted together at a Miu Miu fashion show in 2014. DuVernay and Rae were also called for to direct and write.

What’s not clear is if the logline generated by the meme, that Rihanna scams rich white men and Nyongo is her computer smart friend, will be incorporated – though it seems likely at this point.

Production is aiming to start in early 2018 once DuVernay fully wraps “A Wrinkle In Time” which opens in March.
