Though in the midst of shooting “Prometheus”, Ridley Scott is already looking into his next project which will be a distinct change of gears for him.
Scott will produce and hopes to direct a biopic about Gertrude Bell, a photographer and spy during World War I reports Deadline.
Bell was a well-to-do Oxford University student who became a seminal figure in Middle Eastern politics before the start of World War I.
She helped define the borders of Iraq after the fall of the Ottoman Empire, and was rejected by her own government for advocating Arab self-rule.
Jeffrey Caine (“The Constant Gardener”) is being sought to pen the screenplay. Giannina Facio will also produce.
Scott is also looking into a biopic on the Gucci family, whether this or the Bell film takes priority is uncertain right now.
