Adult Swim has announced that they have given their popular intergalactic comedy series “Rick and Morty” a third season renewal.
The half-hour animated series follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on dangerous adventures across the universe.
The show’s second season premiered July 26th and was ranked No. 1 in its time period among all key adults and men. It also scored triple-digit delivery gains over its prior season premiere, and boasted 29.7 million streams in July.
In a statement, co-creator Dan Harmon says: “It’s an honor to see ‘Rick and Morty’ join the exclusive club of shows with over nineteen episodes. It’s time to demand that the network allow us to draw the characters going to Hawaii.”
The current season season is expected to continue airing through late September.
