From the halls of Winterfell to the Panopticon of Gallifrey?
“Game of Thrones” and “Cinderella” actor Richard Madden has been named as a potential replacement for Peter Capaldi as The Doctor in The BBC’s long-running sci-fi serial “Doctor Who”.
British tabloid The Mirror says that with the departure of Jenna Coleman as companion Clara Oswald at the end of the current series, there are fears Capaldi may soon depart as well and so the network is “discreetly drawing up future plans for the show and throwing around a few names as potential new Doctors.”
Madden is allegedly the current favorite according to the report. The Scottish actor is not only a major Who-vian, he’s been a regular visitor to the “Doctor Who” set in Cardiff in recent years as Coleman has been his girlfriend since 2011 but has been reluctant to appear in it with her.
The BBC have since officially denied the report though, saying “Peter Capaldi is Doctor Who. We never discuss contracts”.
The more solid speculation regarding the series and its casting is that of the new companion. British bookies Ladbrokes has announced that “Coronation Street” star Michele Keegan is currently the favorite for the job with her odds down to 4-1.
