Oscar-nominated actor Richard E. Grant will portray a former drag queen and mentor in “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie,” the film adaptation of the British stage musical for Film4, Warp Films and New Regency.
The story follows 16-year-old Jamie (played by Max Harwood) who doesn’t quite fit in and is terrified about the future. He overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness into the spotlight.
“Catastrophe” co-creator and star Sharon Horgan and “Happy Valley” breakout lead actresss Sarah Lancashire have also joined the film as Jamie’s teacher and mother respectively. Shobna Gulati also stars while Jonathan Butterell helms from a script by Tom MacRae.
Filming will begin in Sheffield on June 24th with 20th Century Fox handling distribution worldwide.
