Rian Johnson Shares Knives Out Influences

Filmmaker Rian Johnson is following up “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” with the new $40 million whodunnit murder mystery “Knives Out” and he has now tweeted out photos of some movie posters hanging around his editing room that are serving as inspiration for the project.

Daniel Craig stars as a detective trying to solve a murder, Lakeith Stanfield is his aide, while suspects include Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, Christopher Plummer, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Katherine Langford, Ana de Armas, Raul Castillo and Riki Lindhome.

Johnson wrote the script for the film which has yet to release a full synopsis. He has teased a big influence by Agatha Christie, which explains celebrated film adaptations of her work appearing here including “Evil Under the Sun,” “The Mirror Crack’d” and the one-sheet for “Death on the Nile” which Johnson dubs ‘the best whodunnit poster of all time’. Others hanging up include “Deathtrap” and the more comedic classics like “Clue” and “Murder by Death”.
