Paramount Pictures has delayed the release of the Blake Lively-led spy thriller “The Rhythm Section” by two months, moving it from a pre-Thanksgiving opening to one on January 31st 2020 – the weekend of Super Bowl LIV.
Adapted from Mark Burnell’s Stephanie Patrick novels, Lively plays a woman who adopts the identity of an assassin to get to the bottom of her family’s death in what she now suspects wasn’t an accidental plane crash.
Lively suffered a major hand injury in 2017 while doing a stunt on the Dublin set, causing the production to shut down for six months as she underwent two hand surgeries and required time to heal.
Jude Law, Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Mays and Raza Jaffrey also star while Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson produce. Reed Morano (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “I Think We’re Alone Now”) is directing.
