History is in love with “Vikings” it seems.
Following three seasons of ten episodes each, the network renewed its scripted period drama series for a double-sized twenty episode fourth season which kicked off its first half of ten episodes last month and running through April. The second half is due to air sometime in the Fall.
Now, the network announced today that it has renewed the show for a further twenty episode fifth season which will begin production this Summer ahead of a 2017 release.
At the same time, show runner Michael Hirst has enlisted his “The Tudors” star Jonathan Rhys Meyers who will be joining the cast for the fifth season.
New episodes of “Vikings” currently air every Thursday at 10pm.
