One of the long-standing traditions in Hollywood has been that when a new film breaks the record of worldwide box-office champ, the losing film’s director congratulates the winner with a graphic tribute.
Initially, it was published in the trades and more recently has been published on social media channels. We saw it earlier this year when “Avengers: Endgame” overtook “Avatar”.
“Joker” has reportedly just beaten the $785 million global haul of “Deadpool 2,” thus making it the highest R-rated film of all time. In tribute to that, actor Ryan Reynolds has posted a photo on his social media accounts congratulating the Joaquin Phoenix-led film – albeit in a R-rated way.
“Joker” is still in cinemas now.
