“Cliffhanger” and “Deep Blue Sea” director Renny Harlin is currently putting together a fascinating sounding film inspired by the true story of the Dyatlov Pass incident says STYD.
The original incident involved nine Russian hikers who ventured into a remote area of the Ural Mountains in Russia in 1959 and were all found dead two weeks later. Internal injuries consisted with them being subjected to enormous pressure, some were highly radioactive, one was missing its tongue and all were barefoot.
This film follows five ambitious American students given a grant to investigate and retrace the original journey of the nine. This proves to be a mistake, since they’re soon bothered by strange and terrifying phenomena seemingly keen on a repeat performance.
A brief video popped up online a few hours ago showing Harlin being ‘interrogated’ about the film, sadly production company Aldamisa had it taken down.
