Release Date Changes: June 6th 2008

‘Zephyr’ is back to catalogue recent release date changes – things have been very, very quiet on the release-date front lately.

– Sony Pictures has set the Seth Rogen-led adaptation of “The Green Hornet” for June 25th, 2010. This is the first film Sony has scheduled for Summer 2010.

-“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2” has moved up to August 6th.

-“Traitor” the Overture Films crime drama-thriller starring Guy Pearce and Don Cheadle, has moved to Wednesday August 27th.

-“Miracle at St. Anna” the Spike Lee-directed WWII drama, has moved up from the previously bloated October 10th to September 26th.

– Walt Disney Pictures has moved the atrocious-looking “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” up a week from September 26th to October 3rd.

– The Dimension Films comedy “Soul Men” starring Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac, has moved up from October 10th to November 14th.

– The Weinsteins have moved Forest Whitaker-led sports drama “The Patriots” up from November 14th to Christmas Day on December 25th.

– “Ninja Assassin” the James McTiegue-directed action-thriller starring Korean pop phenomenon Rain, will be unleashed much earlier than expected – Martin Luther King Weekend starting January 16th 2009.

– “17 Again”, the age-defying comedy starring Matthew Perry and Zac Efron, will oprn February 20th, 2009.

– “The Box”, the Richard Kelly-directed mystery drama starring Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, and Frank Langella, will come out March 20th, 2009.

– “Knowing”, the Alex Proyas-directed Summit Entertainment sci-fi thriller starring Nicholas Cage and Rose Byrne will also come out March 20th, 2009.

– “The Informant”, the Steven Soderbergh-directed comedic thriller starring Matt Damon, will come out March 27th, 2009.

– “Hoodwinked 2: Hood Vs. Evil” will finally come out on January 15th, 2010.

Fall 2008 still seems very unstable, lacking a truly defining release or potential blockbuster. It’s no longer the sheer mess that last Fall was, but September 19th simply can’t sustain the seven wide releases currently scheduled.
