Release Changes: February 7th 2010

‘Zephyr’ returns to help with this article discussing some schedule changes, mostly from Screen Gems and Universal:

Repo Men
The sci-fi thriller starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker has moved up two weeks from April 2nd 2010 to March 19th to avoid competition with the recently-moved “Clash of the Titans”.

The Kids Are All Right
The Sundance lesbian dramedy starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, Josh Hutcherson, and Mark Ruffalo will be released through Focus Features on July 7th 2010.

The manga adpatation starring Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban, and Christopher Plummer has moved from August 20th 2010 to January 14th 2011, just a little under a year from the director’s previous film Legion, which also starred Paul Bettany. According to the report, the film will now be a Digital 3D release; however, Joss Whedon’s “Cabin in the Woods” that’s scheduled for the same day is also a 3D release, so one of them will likely move.

The action-heist ensemble has been pushed back from May 14th 2010 to August 20th in Priest’s place.

The Roommate
The thriller has been delayed from September 17th 2010 to February 4th 2011.

Easy A
A loose high school-based adaptation of “The Scarlett Letter” starring Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes, Cam Gigandet, Lisa Kudrow, Stanley Tucci, Thomas Haden Church and Malcolm McDowell has been scheduled for September 17th 2010 in place of “The Roommate”.

Cowboys & Aliens
The Jon Favreau-directed comic adaptation “Cowboys & Aliens” has apparently set an official July 29th 2011 release date.

Underworld IV
The next sequel to the Underworld franchise, confirmed to have both Len Wiseman and Kate Beckinsale return in their respective roles, has been moved from January 14th 2011 to September 23rd. What’s curious is that this report has stated that it will not be in Digital 3D. Another Screen Gems thriller, “The Intruder”, had been scheduled the week before on September 16th.

Originally set to hit theaters in July 2011, the Peter Berg-directed action epic adaptation of the Hasbro game will now open Memorial Day weekend the following year – May 25th 2012. The delay was to “give it the time and resources to thoroughly realize its huge-scale ambitions” according to a press release.
