A couple of key release date swaps today. First up, Paramount is pushing back its animated comedy “Sherlock Gnomes” from January 12th 2018 to March 23rd.
As a result of the change, The Weinstein Company is snapping up that vacated January 12th date for the upcoming sequel to the hit family film “Paddington”.
Next up, Lionsgate has set an October 20th 2017 release date for Tyler Perry’s “Boo 2! A Madea Halloween”. The already far too overcrowded weekend sees “Geostorm,” “Granite Mountain,” “The Snowman,” “The War with Grandpa,” “The Mountain Between Us,” “Same Kind of Different as Me” and “Wonderstruck” all opening which means several are going to have to move.
Lionsgate has also locked down a February 16th 2018 release for Aardman animation’s new prehistoric film “Early Man”.
Set at the dawn of time, when dinosaurs and mammoths roamed the earth, Early Man tells the story of how one plucky caveman unites his tribe against a mighty enemy.
Electric Entertainment has set a November 10th release date for the Rob Reiner-directed and Woody Harrelson-starring “LBJ” with a launch at more than 300 North American locations.
Finally, Amazon Studios and STX Entertainment have titled their David Oyelowo and Paris Jackson-led thriller “Gringo” and set a March 9th 2018 release date. Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton, Amanda Seyfried, Yul Vazquez, Thandie Newton, and Sharlto Copley co-star.
