Relativity Options Nicholas Sparks’ “Me”

Relativity has picked up the in development film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ “Best of Me” from Warner Bros. Pictures.

The deal includes the film rights, a script by J. Mills Goodloe and Will Fetters, and filmmaker Michael Hoffman (“The Last Station”) attached to direct.

The story follows small-town high school sweethearts from opposite sides of the tracks. Now middle-aged and having lived very different lives, they return home for a funeral and confront the past.

Relativity previously adapted Sparks’ “Safe Haven” and “Dear John,” which together made $210 million worldwide. Sparks, Denise DiNovi, Theresa Park and Ryan Kavanaugh are producing.

Eight of the sixteen fiction novels Sparks has published so far, have hit the screen. The seven that have yet to be adapted include “The Rescue,” “A Bend in the Road,” “The Guardian,” The Wedding,” “True Believer,” “At First Sight” and “The Choice”.
