Reilly’s “Contest” Gets Scribe, Helmer

Screenwriter Terrance Mulloy (“Priority Run”) is set to pen the film adaptation of best-selling Australian author Matthew Reilly’s sci-fi novel “Contest” for Common Thread Entertainment and Myth Film Co.

Greg McLean (“Wolf Creek”) will direct and Animal Logic will handle the effects for the project. The story follows a radiologist and his daughter who find themselves trapped in the New York Library which has been sealed off from the world.

Turns out he’s been selected to represent humanity in a fight to the death between representatives from seven different alien races. The last survivor will be transported out of this makeshift labyrinth.

McLean, Richard Stewart, Penny Wall and Richard Sheffield will produce.
