Regina King Joins Jenkins’ “Beale Street”

Regina King has joined the cast of “Moonlight” director Barry Jenkins’ new film “If Beale Street Could Talk” for Plan B and Annapurna Pictures.

Adapted from the 1974 James Baldwin novel by the same name, the story follows a newly engaged Harlem woman (KiKi Layne) who races against the clock to prove the innocence of her lover (Stephan James) while pregnant with the couple’s first child.

King’s role is unknown but is said to be a key one. Shooting is now underway in New York City.
