ORIGINAL (6/10): Eddie Redmayne (“Savage Grace,” “The Other Boleyn Girl”) has landed the lead role in Steven Spielberg’s World War I epic “War Horse” reports The Playlist.
The site claims the British actor is “locked” for the role of Albert adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s 1982 novel which is currently scheduled for release next August.
The story follows the bond between a farmer’s son and his horse who are separated but who find their fates continue to intertwine over the course of the Great War. The horse is sold to the army and finds itself in the midst of the fighting on the Western Front and becomes inspiration for the soldiers around him.
Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, Revel Guest and Spielberg will produce. Lee Hall and Richard Curtis are adapting the book into a script.
