Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly zeroing in on Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne for the lead role in the upcoming “Harry Potter” spinoff “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.
David Yates is on board to direct the film which is set seventy years before the events of the Potter series and follows a fictitious author named Newton Scamander who compiled a reference guide to magical beasts.
There’s reportedly no offer at this stage but Redmayne is the studio’s top choice. Author J.K. Rowling is still working on the script, and Redmayne won’t commit until he reads it.
