Netflix is in discussions to develop an original film adaptation of Kent Haruf’s novel “Our Souls At Night” which will serve as a starring vehicle for Robert Redford and Jane Fonda.
Said to be akin to “Bridges of Madison County” in tone, the Colorado-set novel follows a woman who pays an unexpected visit to her neighbor.
Both lost their respective partners years ago, have known each other for decades, and now each live alone in big houses. She seeks to establish a romantic connection with him and make the most of the rest of the time they have.
Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber (“500 Days Of Summer,” “The Fault In Our Stars”) are penning the script while Redford will produce. Redford and Fonda previously worked together in 1967’s “Barefoot in the Park” and 1979’s “The Electric Horseman”
