The group of hackers that leaked the fifth season of Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” this weekend has now provided cybersecurity blog DataBreaches.net with a list of movies and TV shows it claimed to have stolen from Larson Studios.
Larson is a Hollywood-based audio post-production company where several projects were being worked on and this group, dubbed ‘TheDarkOverlord,’ seems to have penetrated their firewalls and obtained episodes of numerous high-profile shows across a number of networks.
Shows they claimed to have episodes of include “NCIS Los Angeles,” “New Girl,” “Portlandia,” “Bill Nye Saves the World,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” and “The Catch” along with films like “XXX: Return of Xander Cage,” “Win It All,” and “Rebel In The Rye”.
The hackers had previously unsuccessfully tried to solicit extortion money from Netflix, leading to the release of most of the new season of ‘Orange’ on online piracy networks.
Netflix acknowledged the breach in a statement earlier this weekend, saying: “We are aware of the situation. A production vendor used by several major TV studios had its security compromised and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved.” The company hasn’t commented on details of the leak.
